How to Play
Type any word and press Enter. The game ranks it by how close it is in meaning to the secret word: a low number (like #3) is very hot, a high number (like #8,000) is cold. Keep guessing related words to climb toward rank #1, which is the answer. Sort your guesses by closest-first to see your best leads. There is no penalty for guessing, so take as many tries as you need.
About Semantix Word Game
Semantix is a word game with no letters to fill in and no anagrams to untangle. There's one secret word each day, and the only thing you have to work with is meaning. You type any word and the game tells you its rank, which is how close that word sits to the secret word on a giant map of language. Guess "ocean" when the answer is "sea" and you might land at rank #2. Guess "accountant" and you'll be somewhere past rank 20,000. You start out cold in the thousands and slowly work your way down to #1, and it's surprisingly addictive.
Behind the scenes, every word in the dictionary has a spot in a 200-dimensional "meaning space" learned from how words are actually used across billions of sentences. Words that show up in similar contexts end up near each other. Coffee sits beside tea, espresso and mug, and winter sits beside summer, snow and season. When you guess, the server measures the distance between your word and the secret word and ranks it against all 40,000 words in the vocabulary. So when a near-miss feels good and a wild stab feels cold, that's coming from an actual measurement.
You can play three ways. Daily gives everyone the same puzzle, resets at midnight Central time, and has shared stats so you can see how your solve compares. Free Play gives you a fresh random word whenever you want another round, with no daily limit. The Archive lets you replay every past daily puzzle back to launch. It never shows future ones, so there's no peeking ahead.
Playing it well is nothing like playing a spelling game. Ranking is about meaning, so instead of hunting for letters you're closing in on a concept. A good approach is to start broad with words like "animal", "food" or "machine" to find out which area is warm, then narrow down. When a guess suddenly jumps from rank #4,000 to rank #40, you've found the right neighborhood, and the rest of the game is about pinning down the exact sense of the word. Synonyms, categories and closely associated objects help a lot. Spelling and rhyme don't help at all. A wide vocabulary and some lateral thinking go a long way, and a tough puzzle can go from frustrating to solved with one good guess.
We built Semantix so it's fair and can't be tampered with. The secret word never gets sent to your browser, so there's nothing to find in the page source. All you ever receive is a rank. Whether you solve it in four guesses or four hundred, there's no penalty.

How does the ranking work?
Every word is positioned in a "meaning space" learned from real-world language use. We measure how close your guess is to the secret word and rank it against the entire 40,000-word vocabulary. A low rank (e.g. #5) means very close in meaning; a high rank (e.g. #9,000) means distant.
When does the daily puzzle reset?
A new daily puzzle is released every day at midnight Central Time (America/Chicago). Everyone gets the same word, and the daily stats show how many players solved it and the average number of guesses.
Is there a limit on guesses?
No. There is no penalty and no cap, so guess as many words as you need. Sorting your guesses by "Closest" helps you focus on your hottest leads.
Can I play more than once a day?
Yes. Free Play gives you an unlimited supply of fresh random puzzles, and the Archive lets you replay any past daily puzzle. Future puzzles are never accessible.
Why is my guess "not in the word list"?
Semantix uses a 40,000-word English vocabulary of common words. Very rare words, names, slang, and non-English words may not be included. Try a more common synonym.
Does the answer ever get sent to my browser?
No. All ranking happens on the server and the secret word is never sent to your device until you solve it or choose to give up. There is nothing to peek at in the page source.
